The biopharmaceutical sector directly supported 55,184 jobs in Massachusetts in 2014, and an additional 209,447 jobs outside the sector. These additional jobs are with vendors and suppliers such as construction companies and I.T. companies, and jobs generated by the sector’s employees such as day care centers and restaurants. The industry not only helps drive the Massachusetts economy, but also leads the world in life-saving research and supports a vibrant patient advocacy community. Biopharmaceutical research companies and their employees play a critical role in improving the health and well-being of Massachusetts’ patients by delivering life-saving, life-enhancing advancements in medicine. Launched in February 2012, We Work for Health Virginia is comprised of nearly 25 organizations including the Virginia Chamber of Commerce, Virginia BIO, the Fairfax Chamber of Commerce, The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Virginia, the Greater Washington Board of Trade, the Medical Society of Virginia, the MS Society, the Lupus Foundation of America, Leukemia-Lymphoma Society, Rx Partnership, the Psychiatric Society of Virginia, and the Arthritis Foundation.  

Our chairs include Barry DuVal, President and CEO of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce, Jeff Gallagher, CEO of VABIO, former Senator Edd Houck and Mark Herzog, Vice President, kaleo. 

Coalition members have recently met with Senators Tim Kaine and Mark Warner, and Congressmen Brat, Goodlatte and Griffith. We have hosted events with Governor Terry McAuliffe and Governor McDonnell, and have highlighted the economic impact of the 3,400 clinical trials that have taken place in Virginia since 1999.  These clinical trials have helped to fight the 6 most chronic diseases facing Virginians: cancer, stroke, diabetes, heart disease, asthma and mental illness.

Patient Services, Inc.

Patient Services, Inc. (PSI) is the "ground breaking" 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization of its kind. Over two decades ago, we recognized the importance of providing a "safety net" for patients with chronic illnesses who were struggling to keep up with expensive premiums and copayments. Since 1989 we have led the charge to provide much needed patient assistance, soliciting donations to fund thousands of patients and their families in a myriad of disease areas.
