On February 26 national figures in the field of medical research and development gathered in Indianapolis at the Indiana University Emerging Technology Center (IUETC), also known as the Evan Bayh Center for Economic Development, to highlight recent innovations in heart disease and stroke research and issue a report on the status of 300 new medicines in development. The event was headlined by Ken Johnson, Sr. VP for the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA). He was joined by Dr. Anthony Ware, VP and Global Platform Leader for Eli Lilly and Company, and special guest Mark Spitz, Olympic gold medalist, Indiana University swimming standout and heart patient. After the press event, Ken Johnson and Mark Spitz took advantage of the opportunity to visit a few of Indianapolis’ high-tech start-ups located inside of the IUETC’s life sciences incubator.
